Amazonas Expedition
In 1949, Eva and Americo moved to Brazil, where their reputations as artists grew quickly. The couple was appointed as Professors of Art at the Sao Paulo Academy of Fine Art and later designated Official Artists of the Brazilian Government. Among their landmark commissions was an unprecedented journey into the Amazon rainforest to capture the lives and landscapes of indigenous tribes. These works marked Eva’s first major artistic milestone, blending cultural documentation with her unique impressionistic style.
